Your service update, step by step

Upgrading equipment, adding load, renovating, or demolishing? Here is how to schedule the service work — and the safety steps that are not optional.

The Process

How to schedule your service update

Most delays in service projects come from incomplete information. This sequence keeps your project on the calendar.

  1. Submit your project with drawings, load information, and target dates.
  2. Review and site visit — we confirm the design and identify the customer-side work required.
  3. Complete your side — your electrician or plumber finishes the customer work and inspections.
  4. We schedule crews to complete the utility work and energize the updated service.

Before Demolition or Major Renovation

These precautions protect your crews, your neighbors, and your schedule.

Required Safety Steps

  • Request disconnection of gas and electric service before any structural work begins
  • Never assume a line is dead — verify every disconnection in writing
  • Protect meters, regulators, and piping from damage during work
  • Contact 811 before any excavation on the site

If Something Goes Wrong

Damaged a line, smell gas, or see sparking equipment? Stop work, clear the area, and call 1-800-555-0199 immediately from a safe distance. Report first; investigate later.
